Posted on 21 January 2010 by PhoenixAirchecks.com

A day full of rain for the Valley and severe thunderstorms, flooding, high winds and tornado watches have threatened many homes, blocked off access through many streets, and have taken down several objects in its path.

The storms worsened in the evening, including taking off two of Sandusky’s rockers, 93.3 KDKB and 98 KUPD and Clear Channel’s smooth jazz KYOT. All have been out for at least a couple of hours tonight.

Mason to also be included on KOOL

Posted on 12 January 2010 by PhoenixAirchecks.com

Back in mid-December, PhoenixAirchecks.com got first word from a friend of Jeffrey T. Mason that he will be KMLE Country 108’s new afternoon personality, set to begin Jan. 11 (originally– but the debut has since been moved to the 13th) and that this will be “my second run with OM Kris Abrams. We worked together at WFBC/Greenville in 1995,” Mason told AllAccess.com.

Now since yesterday, word from the same source is that Jeffrey will also get a full-time position at 94.5 KOOL-FM, a sister station of KMLE at CBS Radio Phoenix playing classic hits.

The word came suddenly, as he updated his homepage with large, bold font, “This just in,” and beginning the news with “there’s yet another twist to this story…” He will start at KOOL on Monday, Jan. 25, in the 10am-1pm time slot.

Many maneuvers are happening recently around CBS Radio Phoenix, including the replacement in Market Manager by bringing in Tim Pohlman, and most recently bringing in Bruce St. James to program KMLE and KZON, leaving Kris Abrams to program only KOOL.

KEDJ transforms to X

Posted on 09 January 2010 by PhoenixAirchecks.com

Alternative station, KEDJ, transforms yet again– this time, to X– X103.9. The change was complete with a whole new website and logo.

It is KEDJ’s second major change in less than a year. Back in July of 2009, KEDJ took the time to campaign for listener survey participation on how to make the station better. There was a bit of a stunt on-air. When they returned, the longtime, well-known name for the station as “The Edge” was dropped for “FM 103-9″ and a major programming tweak.

Today, “FM 103-9″ was dropped for “X103-9″– the X, representing Generation X as their target.
