KTAR-FM’s Wednesday morning 9 am “special announcement” included a phone call from Darrell Ankarlo following the bottom of the hour newscast. The audio is available on the player below.
Bruce St. James, filling-in for Ankarlo, and Diane Brennan chatted with him to hear about his news and progress. He announced that he would return next week on Tuesday (9/15/09), after five months of absense from his show.
Ankarlo was badly injured in a car accident back in April. He suffered serious trauma to the brain and was allotted several months to recuperate. Ankarlo has been going through rehabilitation with the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph’s in Phoenix.
KTAR-FM has been using Austin Hill, Jim Sharpe, and Bruce St. James for fill-ins during Ankarlo’s absense. The KTAR website mentions Ankarlo will be on-air 9 to 11am Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
