As usual in a blog setting, I see the passion and emotion, the second guessing, “it’s the playlist, stupid”, and “the rich magazine publisher” comment about leadership.

I see the frustration, anger, and the bitterness too.

The support for what Eric writes is palpable and great cheerleading.

What is missing here?

That’s right. Leadership.

Rancorous “breaking the rules” is a publisher’s art for thought, “in a cosmos far, far away.”

As one who has been on both sides of this pasture fence, I am amazed at how no one has hit the problem at its very core…

Kiss FM’s Johnjay and Rich will battle the Jonas Brothers in a game of kickball Tuesday. The game will take place at Peoria Sports Complex and gates open at 12:30pm. Money goes to the Christmas Wish program and the Johnjay and Rich Care for Kids Foundation.

KOOL completed its 10th annual KOOL Summer Splash this weekend. The event, which gathers listeners, fans, family members and friends, met this year at the Fairmont Scottsdale. Plenty of poolside fun and games took place, as people got to see the KOOL on-air staff in person.

Saturday night’s big main attraction was the Las Vegas-based band, Wonder Boogie, playing 70s favorites.

Phoenix Airchecks was on-scene Saturday evening. Turnout looked great, and the event went almost seamless– though some loyal listeners had to be turned-away at the gates for not having a room at the hotel. Unlike previous years, when the event was open to everyone, this was not the case at Fairmont Scottsdale.

Tim Virgin, who took over PD duties of KEDJ since June, exits for Chicago’s Emmis alternative WKQX (Q101) as MD/PM drive.

Jim Sharpe will be among 18 people hoping for an interim position in District 3 of the Phoenix council. The seat has been vacant for a week after former District 3 Councilwoman, Maria Baier, unexpectedly resigned.

Congratulations are in order to Steve Goddard of KOOL-FM, for being the 2009 Best Afternoon DJ, as chosen by AZCentral.com critics. Goddard has a month to go before he celebrates one full year at KOOL. He came in June, originally in the midday spot, after spending over a decade in afternoons at Valley country station, KNIX.
